Merry Christmas
Posted on December 24, 2008
It has been a wonderful year for both my business and my family. I am so thankful that I get to spend my days photographing beautiful babies, children and families. I have truly wonderful clients and I appreciate every single one of you.
This year my family welcomed our youngest, Henry. He is such a joy. He is sweet and calm and cuddly and full of smiles. Our oldest, Helen is the life of our house. She has an amazing imagination. She is smart and she is funny. I feel so lucky to have my husband Bill who truly supports me in all of my endeavors. He is my biggest fan and my best friend. Life is good.
I hope that you have such joy and life and love in your home this season and throughout 2009.
When I read about Giving is Awesome a week and a half ago I knew I needed to participate. It is my opportunity to share some of what I have with someone who could use a little extra joy right now. Every nomination that I received was worthy of receiving my gift of portraits and it was hard to choose. I have picked a family from the Granite City area. They have adopted a daughter and have gone through quite a lot to have her in their lives. The father has been laid off from the steel mill and this has just added to the struggles they face. I would love to be able to share more of their story, but I would like to get permission from them first.
Thank you to all who sent in nominations. By taking just that little bit of time to reach out for someone in need makes the world a better place.

Nominations
Posted on December 19, 2008
Thank you so much to everyone who has sent in a nomination so far. This is going to be a very difficult decision. There is still plenty of time to nominate someone that you feel deserves some extra love this holiday season. See the post below – Giving Is Awesome – for more information. The deadline is Tuesday December 23rd at noon. I will announce the winner on Wednesday.

Giving Is Awesome
Posted on December 14, 2008
You know someone. You know someone who has experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can’t afford custom portraits, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty.
You know someone. I guarantee it.
I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography - $1000 worth, to be exact -whether it be canvas, albums, wall portraits, prints for Grandparents. It is in your power to give them the artwork they deserve this holiday season.
AND…The person who nominates the winner receives a $250 print credit.
The rules:
* You cannot nominate yourself and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-vacation-home in Paris does not qualify as sincere financial need.)
* The nominee must reside in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area. Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.
* You must e-mail me the full story: amy@speedoflifephotos.com
* Nomination deadline is Tuesday December 23rd at noon.
The winner will be announced on Christmas Eve so get nominating! I can’t wait to read all of your entries!
Open your heart to someone this holiday season and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.
Amy

It’s not always easy
Posted on December 13, 2008
Yep today was not the easiest session I have ever had (although definitely not the hardest!). Miss K would prefer to not be photographed, but her mom really, really, REALLY wants a beautiful portrait to hang on her wall. K and her brother A are just as sweet as they can be and I really enjoyed hanging out with both of them this morning. Surprise, surprise…I did get some shots that I just love of Miss K.

A couple of weeks ago I posted some shots of this sweet three month old and I promised to put up the rest of his hat shots. Well here they are!
This boy has an excellent collection of hats.
